I am the opposite of you - I buy music a lot, am rarely disappointed with it, probably because I like a really wide range of music. I don't think one way is better than another, it is just your taste, and it is what it is. However, an easy risk-free way of checking out different kinds of music is at the library. You can check out CD's and while you're limited to what the library has, I have found some amazing and new-to-me music through this method, as well as reminded myself of others that I liked but had been neglecting. I actually like his sound better than your review had me thinking I’d like it!
